LCMT
Molecular and Thio-organic Chemistry Laboratory
Organisation
The LCMT is a member of the Research Federation INC3M (Norman Institute of molecular, macromolecular and medicinal chemistry). The institution gathers together the laboratories of molecular and macromolecular chemistry of the three Norman universities (Caen, Rouen, Le Havre) and engineering schools, ENSICAEN and INSA Rouen which represent more than 200 permanent employees (of which 140 researchers and teachers-researchers) from the best research teams of Normandy.
The laboratory’s research is about heterogeneous (with a strong implication towards sulphur, phosphorus and fluorine atoms), nitrogen-containing molecules, asymmetric synthesis, catalysis (organic and organometallic), unusual activation modes (micro-waves, ultrasound) and polymers.
The objective of this “fundamental” research is the preparation of new molecules and of new intermediates of synthesis as well as the study of new organic materials. The research developed has applications in the fields of medicine, agricultural chemistry, composite materials, catalytic materials and materials for energy.
A major player in the field of molecular and macromolecular chemistry
The main fields of research developed focus on:
- chemistry for sustainable development,
- chemistry for the living,
- chemistry for molecular materials
